David Karp is a seasoned and successful entertainment and media executive. He recently launched and serves as co-President/Executive Producer of Thumbprint Entertainment, which develops, produces and distributes factual programming for multiple platforms throughout the world. Karp is also President of Stuffed Pepper Productions, which develops content for film, television and new media, and consults on strategies and business development related to content in the traditional and new media spaces. Most recently, Karp served as Project Executive for "Greensburg", a 13-part series produced for Discovery's Planet Green cable network. In addition, he provided strategic and creative guidance, and produced, Build TV for Hanley Wood, an online video offering that received a Media Industry Newsletter 2008 Best of the Web award. Karp is also media consultant and acting general counsel for On Stage Entertainment, Inc. In that capacity, he helped negotiate a deal leading to the production of "The One and Only", a highly-rated talent competition series that aired on BBC 1 in the U.K.

Previously, Karp was Senior Vice President and General Manager for Discovery Networks. Karp oversaw all aspects of programming, development, marketing and management of Military Channel, Discovery Home Channel and The Science Channel. Karp also spearheaded the successful launch of Discovery HD Theater, the company's 24-hour high-definition network.

Karp earlier served as Senior Vice President, New Media Ventures for Discovery Networks, U.S. In that role, Karp oversaw all Discovery Networks advanced television efforts, with primary focus on the development of video-on-demand offerings and the deployment of interactive and enhanced television services.

Previously, as head of business development for Discovery Networks, U.S., he led the implementation of joint-venture Meteor Studios, an animation and special effects studio, Discovery Radio, a satellite audio service, and the development of Discovery Private Networks, a unit that extended Discovery's brands to airlines, cruise ships and other non-theatrical venues.

Prior to joining Discovery Networks, U.S., Karp served as general manager of Discovery Themed Entertainment, where he was responsible for taking Discovery brands and products into site-based entertainment. Initiatives included: Discovery Channel Eco-Challenge, an Emmy-award winning television production, Discovery Pictures, large format (IMAX) specialty films; and Discovery Exhibits, traveling tours -- such as "Liberty Bell 7: The Lost Space Capsule" -- based on popular Discovery Networks programming.

Karp has also worked as project general manager for Discovery Channel stores, where he managed the design, development and construction of more than 100,000 square feet of retail space. He joined Discovery in 1993 as director, legal and business affairs.

Before joining Discovery, Karp was an associate at the Washington, D.C.-based law firm of Hogan & Hartson, where he specialized in communications law, with an emphasis on telecommunications and cable television matters.
