Scholarship applications are now closed

Scholarship applications are for scholarships that would be awarded for the 2013-2014 academic year. In order to qualify for a scholarship, you must be taking classes next year (Fall 2013 - Spring 2014).  DO NOT APPLY IF YOU ARE GRADUATING SPRING OR SUMMER 2013.

The application deadline was Monday, March 11, 2013.

Below is a list of our scholarship funds and the eligibility requirements for each scholarship. Click on the name of the scholarship to view full details of the scholarship, including information on any additional materials that may be required when applying.

  1. Incoming TISM Freshman or current students from Detroit Public High Schools or any public school in Michigan.

  1. Active member of Telecasters student group

Ira and Jennie Greene Endowed Scholarship
  1. TISM student

Kevin R Markwardt Award
  1. Junior or Senior
  2. 3.0 GPA
  3. TISM student
Michael A Chaprnka Endowed Scholarship Award
  1. Sophomore or older
  2. 2.5 GPA
  3. TISM student
Communication Arts & Sciences Scholarship in Telecommunication
  1. TISM student
  2. Preference for Audio students
Robert J. & Joanne P. Kobel and Susan Meurer Expendable Scholarship
  1. Student considering a career in electronic media including broadcasting, cable, or telecommunication
  2. TISM student
Gary Reid Professional Development Fund
  1. TISM junior, senior, or graduate student
  2. Student studying audio, radio, television or film
  3. Preference will be given to applicants desiring an internship in the Los Angeles area, although in the absence of such a candidate these funds may be used to support internship work anywhere in the United States outside of the State of Michigan
  4. The award can be used for, but not limited to, housing, transportation, tuition and other required expenses incurred during the internship experience.
Thomas A. Muth, Sr. Endowed Fund in Telecommunication, Information Studies and Media
  1. TISM undergraduate or graduate student
  2. Prefered: Students that demonstrate financial need, as determined by the federal government, according to its policies and procedures
  3. Prefered: Minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4 point scale)
  4. Prefered: Participate in activities that enhance career opportunities (e.g. networking events, internships, professional association memberships, attending professional conferences)
Maxine and John (Jake) Ferris Global Award in Technologies & Applications
  1. TISM Student
  2. Scholarship funds are to help cover the cost of travel and other related expenses associated with participating in the ICT Global Corps.
