Opening a new chapter in TISM outreach

Starting Thursday, February 24th, TISM is launching a set of new professional development workshops on a range of topics related to our department.   We are beginning with several "Lunch and Learn" events, where a speaker provides an introduction to a specialized topic in the area of new media technology, design, or management.  First up is Henry Goecke, who teaches our 3D design and animation courses, with an introduction to the popular 3D design program, Maya.  Henry is an industrial designer who has, for the last two years, won Autodesk University's "Design Slam" competition.  We'll be following this up with another lunch event later in the semester focusing on mobile application design.

The Lunch and Learn events are just the beginning.  We will follow-up these introductory talks with evening and weekend professional development courses that dig deeper and expand participants' skills.  Our target audience for the workshops include Lansing area professionals as well as advanced students who are seeking to complement their coursework.

If you are a media and IT professional in the Lansing area, keep an eye out for our events.  The Lunch and Learn talks are free and we only ask that you register in advance so we can optimize the room size.  You can bring your own lunch, or order and prepay for a sandwich from our online registration form.  Hope to see you there!
